Watering is the most important thing you can do for your newly installed or existing plants. Before watering, make sure to check the moisture of your soil. Over watering can damage plants and trees just as much as under watering. Consistency is the key to healthy plants. If you miss a day of watering, you should continue at the same rate you normally would. For newly installed plants or trees, remember to water them thoroughly immediately after planting. Run a hose on moderate pressure for about 30 seconds for small plants and 1-2 minutes for larger plants and trees. During the plants first year, you should water it 2-3 times per week. For mature plants you should water 1-2 times per week, with a deep soaking during drought season.
Mulching is an important aspect of any planting installation. Mulch not only retains moisture, but also adds nutrients, reduces the potential for weed growth, and adds a manicured appearance to your property.
Plants should be pruned at least once per season after they have bloomed. The use of sharp and clean trimmers is extremely important to ensure the healthiness of the plant.
Please contact us for your specific fertilizing needs. However, if your are a do-it-yourself person, we recommend the use of a slow release 10-10-10 balance fertilizer once per season.
